Pattern & Backdrop
Generate backgrounds for slides and frames and place them on the board as images. Pick blobs, waves, layered peaks, a mesh gradient, blurred orbs, circle scatter, a dots grid, stripes, Truchet tiles, topography lines, an isometric grid or confetti. Choose a size or match a selected frame, one of 12 palettes or your own colours, then tune complexity, scale, softness, grain and background. Shuffle for a new take, fill a selected frame, and edit a placed backdrop later.
Pattern & Backdrop
Make backgrounds for slides, frames and covers in a few clicks, from soft mesh gradients to topography lines. Place one on your Drawdy board, or fill a frame so it fits its exact shape.
What it's for
- Slide backgrounds that fit each frame's shape and rounded corners.
- Covers and section headers that make a board look finished.
- Social and banner graphics, with story, square and banner sizes ready to go.
- Matching sets: the same settings always draw the same picture, so a whole deck can share one look.
How to use
- Click the Pattern & Backdrop button on the right of the board.
- Pick a pattern: Blobs, Waves, Layered peaks, Mesh gradient, Blurred orbs, Circle scatter, Dots grid, Stripes, Truchet tiles, Topography, Isometric grid or Confetti.
- Click Shuffle until you like what you see.
- Choose a size, a palette and a background colour.
- Click Place on board. Or select a frame and click Fill selected frame: the backdrop fills the frame behind everything inside it.
- To change a backdrop later, select it, click Edit selected, then Update on board.
Options
- Size: 16:9, 4:3, Square, Story, Banner, A4, or Match frame for the shape of the frame you last selected.
- Palette: 12 ready-made palettes, or Custom with 2 to 6 colours of your own. Picking a palette also sets a background that suits it.
- Background: white, warm white, light grey, near black, black or any colour.
- Complexity, Scale and Softness adjust each pattern in its own way, and Grain adds a film-like texture.
- Stripes have an Angle, and Truchet tiles come as Quarter arcs or Diagonals.
Tips
- Filling a frame again replaces its backdrop instead of adding a second one.
- Backdrops are saved as image files, like pasted pictures, so they don't slow the board down.
- ⌘Z or Ctrl+Z takes a backdrop back, from the panel too. When filling a frame needs two undo steps, the panel tells you.
Privacy
- Nothing loads from the network. Every pattern is drawn in the panel, and only the finished image goes onto the board.
- Your settings are saved for next time.
